Circa 29 is a family-owned speakeasy-style event venue located in the historic S&W Building in the heart of downtown Asheville. Designed for stylish, memorable gatherings, our space was created to bring people together — whether for weddings, corporate events, private celebrations, or unforgettable nights with friends and colleagues.
From the moment guests step through our doors, the goal is simple: create an atmosphere where people can relax, connect, and fully enjoy the experience. With elevated design, handcrafted cocktails, built-in lounge furnishings, and a flexible layout for groups of 25–140, Circa 29 offers an event experience that feels both sophisticated and welcoming.
About the Owners:
Anne and Burns Aldridge
Asheville has been home to Anne and Burns Aldridge for more than 25 years. Through decades of living and working in the community, they have built strong local relationships and developed a deep appreciation for Asheville’s creativity, hospitality, and vibrant event culture.
A lifelong love of hosting friends and family played a major role in the creation of Circa 29. That same spirit carries into every event hosted in the space — each celebration is approached with the same care, enthusiasm, and attention to detail as if it were their own.
Having hosted hundreds of events since opening, Anne and Burns remain actively involved in the experience, helping clients connect with trusted local caterers, musicians, photographers, florists, and other vendors who elevate each event.
A Space with history
Inspired by Asheville’s Architectural Legacy
The name Circa 29 honors the year 1929 — when the historic S&W Building was constructed. Designed by renowned architect Douglas Ellington, the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and represents Asheville’s rich Art Deco heritage.
Today, that history blends with Circa 29’s modern speakeasy-style design to create a space that feels timeless, stylish, and distinctly Asheville — an ideal setting for meaningful gatherings and unforgettable celebrations.
